INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

Introduction
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the fusion of computers and telecommunications. As well as being an important curriculum requirement, the ability to use ICT effectively is a vital life skill.
ICT is taught throughout Key Stage 3 and pupils then have the option to take an ICT course at Key Stage 4. The courses currently on offer are GCSE Business and ICT, Short Course GCSE ICT and Entry Level Qualification ICT.
Aims
The overall aim of the department are to produce learners
who are confident and effective users of Information Communication Technology.
Pupils are given opportunities to:
- Use ICT with purpose and enjoyment
- Develop their ICT capability
- Become autonomous users
- Evaluate the benefits of ICT and its impact on society
- Meet the requirements of the National Curriculum as fully as possible and help all pupils achieve the highest possible standards of achievement.
- Utilise ICT across the whole school curriculum.
Extra Curricular Activities
ICT Club: An opportunity for pupils to gain extra ICT experience and catch up on coursework after school or during dinner times.
